Because of its tough, woody texture, Reishi is typically steeped into deeply earthy teas, broths, or made into tinctures rather than cooked for meals. Grown on a substantial 2.5 kg block of premium oak and beech hardwood enriched with bran, this kit offers a unique, visually stunning, and highly rewarding growing experience.

Description

Growkit Instructions:

Step 1

Unbox the Block: Open your grow kit box to reveal the 2.5 kg premium hardwood and bran substrate block (approx. 12.5 x 30 x 20 cm), fully colonized and ready for its fruiting phase.

Step 2

The Top Cut: Reishi produces its beautiful, wide caps when it has plenty of space. Cut the plastic completely open across the top surface of the block, leaving a 5 cm collar of plastic standing up around the edges.

Step 3

Find the Light and Temp: Reishi specifically requires light to form its fruiting bodies. Place the kit in a well-ventilated area with plenty of bright, indirect daylight, ensuring the room temperature stays comfortably between 20°C and 24°C.

Step 4

Prioritize Oxygen: This variety needs a lot of oxygen to form flat caps (otherwise, it will grow into long, finger-like antlers). Ensure the location has excellent airflow.

Step 5

Create a Breathable Tent: Reishi also requires high humidity (85-95%). Drape a clear plastic bag over the block, but ensure it is heavily punctured or kept very loose at the bottom so fresh oxygen can freely circulate.

Step 6

Mist Daily: Using a spray bottle, generously mist the inside walls of your humidity tent 2 to 3 times every day to keep the microclimate steamy.

Step 7

Watch the Glossy Caps Form: Reishi is a slow and fascinating grower. You will first see yellow and white tips emerge, which will slowly broaden into stunning, shiny red-brown and purple kidney-shaped caps.

Step 8

Harvest for Wellness: The Reishi is ready to harvest when the white growing edge of the cap disappears and the entire mushroom takes on its glossy, dark color. Use a tough, sharp knife or pruning shears to cut the woody stems, then dry your harvest to use in traditional teas and extracts!
